Any woman reading this will want to wipe the floor with this guy for what he just said…
Evangelist Kirk Cameron, in an interview with the Christian Post, said that no matter how wives are treated by their husbands, even if they are treat like sh*t, they should be submissive and stay together in the marriage because “God commands it.”
Before claiming that women should know their role so that the marriage can succeed, Cameron stated:
“Wives are to honor and respect and follow their husband’s lead, not to tell their husband how he ought to be a better husband. When each person gets their part right, regardless of how their spouse is treating them, there is hope for real change in their marriage.”
So, Cameron is implying that even if the wife is beaten black and blue daily by her husband or treated in a demeaning and slave like manner, she should always remain submissive, letting her husband do anything they please with no consequence.
According to Cameron, it’s all because the Bible says so…
“A lot of people don’t know that marriage comes with instructions. And, we find them right there in God’s word.”
This is the “advice” Cameron has for the women of the world.
Is anyone else worried about Cameron’s wife? The former child star, Cameron, clearly believes domestic violence should be ignored by women instead of getting out of the marriage or reporting it.
Cameron is a member of the Christian fundamentalist movement which consistently preaches that women are nothing more than common house slaves meant to cook, clean, raise children, and talk only when their husbands give them permission to do so. [inlinead]
Pastor Steven Anderson is another good example.
Anderson posted a sermon last February preaching wildly that women should be barred from seeking divorce, banned from voting, prevented from being part of the workforce, and should stay prisoners in their home where they are submissive to their overlord husbands.
The right to divorce your husband is what they mean. You know what they mean?
“The right to rebel and disobey your husband, the right to divorce him, the right to go out and get a job and make your own money, the right to tell him what to do, the right to go vote for our leaders as if women should have any say in how our country is run when the Bible says that ‘I suffer not a woman to teach, not to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence’.”

Anderson has made the front pages before with his outlandish comments. Two years ago, he demanded that women shut their mouths in church so that the men were able to teach them. Does Cameron really believe that too? Anderson is also infamous for preaching that women shouldn’t be allowed to talk, read, or leave the house.
The bottom line is that if conservative Christians such as Kirk Cameron or Steven Anderson had their way, women around the world would be prisoners to their male counterparts, forbidden to have their own lives outside of the home. What’s scary is that many Republican lawmakers agree with them.
